Top 5 Spots Worth Missing School For
After a relaxing, sunny summer, the first week of school can be tough to face. Our remedy? Just don’t. These Top 5 spots are all more than worth skipping those first days back and, as healing as they are to the body, you should be able to get a doctor’s note…
Nothing important happens that first week anyways…
When back-to-school week rolls around in September, inevitably there’s that one kid whose name is on the attendance list but isn’t at a desk. Then they saunter in, Week 2, all tanned and refreshed and not that far behind, really. Do you ever wonder where they were? Our bet is one of the places below, well worth the little bit of extra catch-up. These are our Top 5 spots worth missing the first week of school for:
St. John’s Underwater Trail
Beginner snorkelers love the marked underwater trail just off Trunk Bay, one of St. John’s most picturesque beaches. Count coral or try, identify and spell the fish names and you’ve more than made up for lost classroom time!
The Beaches of Turks & Caicos
There’s no better place to build a sand castle (physics, engineering, architecture?) than in the beach-blessed Turks & Caicos islands. Grace Bay is oft considered the best of the bunch, but we’d recommend secluded Sapodilla Bay too.

The Hiking/Biking Trails of St. Lucia
The PE portion of our tour brings us to the lush hills of St. Lucia, where ribbons of trails suitable for both hiking and biking offer hours of activity.

The Lights of Acapulco Bay
The steamy horseshoe bay in this Pacific coast town may seem more suitable for the adult crowd (mature students?), but Acapulco still has plenty to do and see for kids and is a great lesson in culture.
The Whale Grounds of Hawaii
For this one you’ll have to miss the first week back after December holidays. Biology is in full bloom in Hawaii around that time, when humpback whales migrate past the islands and put on a spectacular show.
